Summary In this course, the fundamentals, concepts and strategies for auralization will be presented and demonstrated. Part 1: deals with the creation (rendering) of virtual acoustic environments, starting with fundamentals room acoustic simulation (ray tracing, image sources), examples and results, practical problems, strategies to choose programme parameters such as number of rays and spatial/temporal resolution. Then, the extension of the concept towards rendering of sound insulation is added. Part 2: deals with the fundamentals of signal processing, filter synthesis and binaural and multi-channel convolution for creation of spatial sound fields and spatial sound reproduction techniques.
