see additional information

The Board of the International Institute of Noise Control Engineering (I-INCE) has approved I-INCE Young Scientists Conference Attendance Grants (YS Grants) to assist young scientists/engineers in attending the 39th International Congress on Noise Control Engineering (INTER-NOISE 2010) to be held in Lisbon, Portugal, June 13 - 16, 2010. I-INCE has allocated the funds to support between ten and twelve grants, each having a value of 500 EUR. The YS Grant will include complimentary registration for the congress. The remainder of the 500 EUR grant will be available at the time of the congress as a contribution to partially cover travel and accommodation expenses. The notification of the award of the prestigious YS Grant may be used to assist with obtaining additional funding from other sources.

Candidates must be relatively early in their professional careers (typically less than 10 years of active career). They can be either undergraduate or postgraduate students, postdoctoral, or young acousticians or noise control engineers working in industry.

Applications will be assessed by the I-INCE YS Grants Sub-committee Jury. Notification will be provided to successful applicants by 2010 January 25 along with their complimentary registration identification number. The awardees/applicants will need to complete registration, comply with the deadlines for submission of the abstract and the manuscript as described at IN 2010 website, and participate in the congress. To receive the remaining grant money, the successful candidates must attend the congress, present themselves personally to the conference organizers with verification documents such as passport or identity card, and present their paper during the congress. Note that no (cash) payments will be made to successful candidates prior to the congress.

Attention: The grant application is not a formal conference registration !

Before 20010 Jan. 10, candidates should submit the completed application form by e-mail to the Chairperson of the I-INCE YS Grants Sub-committee; see below for the contact information. Note that this form requires an indication of support from the candidate’s supervisor and where practical, from an officer of the candidate’s local acoustical society. (Details of the member societies can be found in the I-INCE homepage: This society must be a member society of the I-INCE. The form requires an abstract of the paper (maximum of 200 words) that the applicant will submit to IN 2010 plus one page of theory/experiments/results/conclusions.
